Shredded Detox Salad

This salad has quickly become one of the favorites for my tBK Cleanse clients. It is simple to make, nut-free and loaded with a colorful - and vitamin packed - assortment of raw veggies.  Eat it by itself or add a piece of high-quality wild fish for a heartier meal.  Either way, it is delicious and satisfying with the perfect blend of sweet and savory, crunchy and creamy.  Yum.  Enjoy!

Shredded Detox Salad

Serves 4

Ingredients 1/2 cup tahini {sesame seed butter} 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, fresh-squeezed 1/4 cup olive oil 2 Tbsp. maple syrup or honey 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 head purple cabbage, thinly sliced 1/2 head green or napa cabbage, thinly sliced 1/2 cup carrot, shredded 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced 1/2 cup broccoli or cauliflower, finely chopped optional, for garnish: cilantro, currants, dried cherries, sunflower seeds, almonds or cashews


  1. Blend first 5 ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy - set aside.
  2. Throw veggies in big bowl, pour dressing over top and massage together using your hands for about 1-2 minutes.  Cabbage will begin to soften.
  3. Divide salad among four bowls and garnish with optional ingredients.
